Lo Champagne Brut “La Grande Dame” di Veuve Clicquot è il simbolo indiscusso della prestigiosissima cantina della Montagne de Reims. La Maison nacque più di 250 anni fa quando Francois Clicquot decise di vendere le sue bollicine. La moglie Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin, rimasta vedova a 27 anni, prese in mano la cantina e ampliò e perfezionò il progetto del marito, guadagnandosi il nome di Grande Dame dello Champagne. Questa memorabile etichetta è stata lanciata nel 1972 con la vendemmia del 1962, in onore dei 200 anni di fondazione. Il motto di Veuve Clicquot è “una sola qualità, la migliore”, questo Champagne lo incarna alla perfezione. “La Grande Dame” è sicuramente unica e non è un caso che negli ultimi 50 anni ne siano state prodotte in sole 18 cuvèe. Nasce solo nelle migliori annate scelte dallo chef de cave ed è ottenuto da 10% Chardonnay e 90% Pinot Noir, il vitigno preferito di Madame Clicquot. Entrambi i vitigni sono raccolti e assemblati dai vigneti di proprietà di sei villaggi Grands Cru, alcuni dei quali erano stati appunto acquistati dalla Grande Dame. La componente di Chardonnay regala morbidezza e forza, mantenendo l’eleganza e la finezza del Pinot Noir. Il lungo affinamento di quasi 10 anni nelle cantine di gesso, patrimonio dell’UNESCO, gli permette di arrivare alla sua piena maturità espressiva e di mantenersi ancora per lungo tempo. Questo Champagne di Veuve Clicquot si presenta con un manto dorato scintillante, brilla e abbaglia, e il perlage, fine, persistente e ricco, contribuisce ad accenderlo e vivacizzarlo. Al naso è un’armonia di aromi varietali, che si aprono nel calice gradualmente. La frutta a polpa gialla e i piccoli tocchi floreali sono guidati da note di nocciola, mandorla e crosta di pane. Il sapore è perfettamente equilibrato, sintesi assoluta di forza e classe, senza tralasciare una gradevolissima freschezza giovanile.
