Il Coffey Malt è un Whisky dotato di buona personalità, che si fa strada grazie al corpo snello e scorrevole, accompagnato però da profumi stratificati ed energici. Si tratta di una delle etichette della gamma di Nikka realizzata partendo da alambicchi particolari, i Coffey. La distilleria, oramai vero e proprio punto di riferimento non solo per il Giappone, ma per gli appassionati di Whisky di tutto il mondo, decise di importare questi alambicchi direttamente dalla Scozia, convinta che potessero contribuire a donare un ventaglio aromatico più profondo e sfaccettato. Solitamente Nikka li utilizza per distillare il grano, ma fa un’eccezione con questa bottiglia, regalandoci un Whisky unico e particolare. Il Whisky Coffey Malt è il risultato di un’unica distillazione effettuata da Nikka partendo da puro malto d’orzo giapponese, accuratamente selezionato. Si utilizzano alambicchi Coffey, così chiamati dal nome del loro inventore, Aeneas Coffey, importati dalla Scozia nel 1963, perché ritenuti in grado di conferire una maggiore ricchezza al prodotto finale. Una volta terminata la fase di distillazione, il Whisky viene fatto riposare in botti di rovere, dove rimarrà sino al momento dell’imbottigliamento. Il Coffey Malt è un Whisky dal colore intenso, che richiama la tonalità del giallo dorato. Elegante e raffinato il naso, che si presenta con una veste di profumi dolci, che dalla pera cotta alla banana giungono sino alla vaniglia, muovendosi su un tappeto di sfumature affumicate. Al palato è di buon corpo, vellutato, sottile, con un sorso piacevolmente rinfrescante, contraddistinto da un gusto leggermente dolce. Una delle tante etichette realizzata da Nikka che si contraddistingue per la propria qualità, vero e proprio marchio di fabbrica di questa distilleria giapponese.
