Il Barolo “Bricco delle Viole” di Mario Marengo ha nelle sue corde il sapore della tradizione dei veri vignaioli di Langa. La cantina sorge a La Morra, in provincia di Cuneo, con vigneti dislocati in posizioni particolarmente vocate per dare alla luce uve di alta qualità. Mario ha ereditato la passione di famiglia, ma anche il rispetto per la terra, che, soprattutto in queste zone, è stata fonte unica di sostentamento per decenni. Non è un caso che, sull’etichetta, venga riportata proprio la cascina in mezzo ai campi. Anche il Barolo è prodotto secondo le regole passate di generazione in generazione, con il miglioramento delle tecniche e il sempre minor uso di sostanze chimiche. “Bricco delle Viole” Barolo è, come da tradizione, un Nebbiolo in purezza. I vigneti sono all’interno del cru della denominazione “Bricco delle Viole”, caratterizzato da suoli ricchi di argilla e calcare. Come fertilizzanti vengono utilizzati letami, per i trattamenti fitosanitari si opta per rame e zolfo. In cantina la fermentazione è attivata da un pied de cuve e si svolge in serbatoi di acciaio a temperatura controllata. Dopo che il vino abbia svolto anche la fermentazione malolattica, viene spostato in barrique di rovere dove matura per 24 mesi prima dell’imbottigliamento. Il Barolo “Bricco delle Viole” di Mario Marengo gioca come biglietto da visita un rosso granato molto limpido. Una volta versato nel calice, i sentori preponderanti sono floreali, dove spicca la violetta. Si intrecciano però anche gli aromi fruttati, tra ciliegia e prugna, per poi allargarsi su note leggere speziate che toccano anche la liquirizia. Al sorso ha un corpo molto sensuale, è setoso e carnoso, dotato di succosità e finezza. I tannini sono ben bilanciati e morbidi, con una persistenza finale piuttosto lunga. Questa bottiglia è in grado di regalare belle emozioni sia accompagnata da cibo, che da sola.
